This is the official thread for all Intel Q6600 owners to post tips, tricks, mods (they exist, I tell ya) and general help for each other to get the most out of our processors.
Simple rule: CPU-Z or it didn't happen. Screenshot if you must, but I can always shop a shot. I can't shop a validation.
Other than that, I'll open with this simple OC, and we'll start having fun...

kayin we should also include what are cooling hardware is... stock, air, water, standfan, etc...
Maybe a pic of the current rig too

I have mine at 2.7Ghz at the moment on water. Have tried higher but no look so I reckon I need to raise voltages.I also have the G0 one too.

Mine is currently at 3.8 GHz with 1.5187 volts and watercooled. I'll post some pics tonight as proof along with a validation link.
The Q6600 is arguably the best bang for the buck CPU right now. 4 cores, great overclocking results and great price, in the line of the Celeron 450.

Guys, what's a safe vCore water and air? I've been an AMD clocker for a long time, but this is new to me, and on XS all I got was assery.
I've gotten a stable 3.45 on air, but I was concerned that vCore might have been too high (was like 1.475) especially for this piss-poor cooling I have...

Running 3.0ghz 24/7 stable in the rig I just built my mom, and it runs on all stock air-cooling in a shuttle case, all stock voltages  love that processor. How does one "validate" an overclock?

simple enough, follow the link kayin has above. (copied it this post too)
1. register at the site
2. then download the cpu-z software,
3. run said software
4. then on the "about" frame, you have validation button...
5. then follow validation directions...

You can see the RAM in hte shots, need a pic of the CPU-Z info on it...

I had my Q6600 at 3.2 on 1.325V for a long time. This chip runs really well at the 8 X 400 multiplier. If you just have DDR2 800mhz then this is the sweet spot. Ram and chip run 1:1. Also temps were not much different than stock at this speed. I could get the chip up to 3.8 but the voltage required made it run too hot for me.
BTW I don't have the chip anymore so I can't cpuz validate it. You can believe me or not but it is the truth.

Great temps, too, Red!
Man, that's a nice Q6600. Mine needed ~1.45 to get 3.6!

What would be a good suggestion for an air cooler for my HTPC case.
I can only fold on 2 cores and even then its at 70c on the stock cooler. If I turn on all 4 cores for folding bad things happen like the PC instantly shutting down from temps.
So far the Scythe Mini is at the top of my list with a 110mm-110mm-115mm "foot print"

WC that bitch. A Q6600 on a 120.1 would outperform ANY high end aircooler.

Ive thought about it but the cost is keeping me from doing that.
I know a 20 dollar air cooler will work so why spend a few hundred on water?

Well it all depends on how much space you have. When you get time, get some pictures up for us of what you're working with.
