I'm doing an all black and metal case DIY, and I want the gtx480s to be metal. What solvent would you guys reccomend to strip the black paint off of the rads with the minimum or brushing and would not eat the metal in anyway.

Kayin, any ideas?

David

I don't want to be a weaksauce anymore :crying:

Sorry bud, you're WeakSauce until (30) posts, then you'll be promoted to Air-Cooler...

As for your radiator question, I'd recommend no solvent, rather 800 grit sandpaper and lots and lots of sanding...;)

RR is right, sandpaper is going to be your best solution. Start at 800 grit, after you've got all the paint off finish it up with some 1500 grit sandpaper.

don't use sandpaper.. I just did it actually.
Let me look downstairs.

Can't find the bottle, but I have 2 kinds.. one a really strong one (aircraft stripper??)
This is actually a light one that isn't strong. I brushed it all over the radiator.. came back in 25mins and it peeled off like banana. (gabes paint job)
Use sandpaper at the end after you washed the radiator to get the solvent off.

If you use sandpaper to get the paint off, you are going to spend a lot of time waste a lot of time.

yeah, no need to touch the fins at all. It's covered by fans, so even if it's pink, nobody will see.
Just spooge some of that paint remover all over the radiator and come back in a half hour.

mm pink fins... i want...

lol...

the fins are usually covered by a thermal transfer paint, so dont bother..

and like eddie says you wont see it when your fans are on.

rinse well with water............. very well

are u going for an industrial look ?
cause that's gonna show up the solder as well

u could just go to a rad Shop & have it Hot Tanked that will take the paint off the fins as well

& i think then u can have it plated after a hot Tank ...
